1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green Is it cheating if I list a book that already is being made into a movie? While a film is already in the works, I think this book would work the best as a movie of all of John Green's books. It could be a beautiful film- I mean, it partially takes place in Amsterdam. I'm worried about the casting though: it would probably be best if they cast unknown actors, in my opinion.
2. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova There were some flaws in this book, but I think it could make an exciting and suspenseful film.
3. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine I Know what you're thinking: wasn't Ella Enchanted made into a movie in 2004? Indeed it was, but I hate that movie with such a fiery passion that I don't even count it as an adaption of the book. To me, it feels like Ella Enchanted trying to be more like Shrek. Overall, that horrible movie that doesn't live up to the wonderful book, and I think Ella Enchanted could benefit from being remade, accurately this time.
4. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray I first read this in 2004 and I was a bit obsessed with the idea of it being made into a film. According to IMDB a movie is in the works, but I swear that page has been there for nearly 8 years, and there's been no movie or any change in the status. I think this could make a good movie, but I'm not as obsessed as I used to be with one being made.
5. 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson I really think this would make an awesome film. Think about all the places you would get to see! Of all the books on this list, I actually think this one would work the best in a movie. There would be travel, beautiful places, excitement, adventure, great characters and even romance.
6. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer I think a film is in the works, and I think this story about how a literary society (originally created just as an alibi) helps bring hope to residents of occupied Guernsey would make a great movie.
7. Divergent by Veronica Roth I'm sure this book will be made into a film soon enough, with the popularity of The Hunger Games and dystopia in general. Reading the book, you can tell that it would make an exciting film.
8. The Paris Wife by Paula McLain This is one of the rare books I read that right away I imagined it as a film. The book follows the first wife of Ernest Hemingway during their years together as husband and wife in Paris in the 1920's. It would make a great biopic, featuring many famous writers as well as Hemingway.
