Happy Easter! This past Wednesday was my 22nd Birthday, so I got a few books! From my parents, I recieved Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick, author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I just finished this one, and it's told in a similar style as Hugo, except with two characters from different eras whose stories are intertwined. Ben is seeking the father he has never known, while a famous actress leads Rose to New York. Ben's story is set in 1977 and told in text, while Rose's story is set in 1927 and told through pictures. My friend gave me Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, which is about a girl growing up in Post WWII Ireland who leaves home to work in a Brooklyn boarding house. I bought myself The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly, which I've already read. It's a fairy tale retelling, in which a boy leaves England during WWII and finds himself in a world he knows from his favourite story book. Obviously I loved it, since I bought a copy of my own.
I hope everyone is having a great Easter long weekend! What was in your mailbox this week?
